The following changes have been implemented throughout the MWR effective immediately per region guidance:

All events have been cancelled or postponed until further notice. All MWR facilities are now cashless. Program/facility changes are as follows:



  • The McCain Recreation Center (including Subway) is closed until further notice


Child & Youth:

  • The Child Development Center will open as scheduled on 4 May. For parents who are self-caring in their own homes with fees waived and places held (set to expire 1 May), these waivers and placeholders will automatically continue until further notice.  If your circumstances have changed and childcare is now needed, or have additional questions about the waivers, please email us at, or call the CDC at (601) 679-2652.
  • CYP is in Level CYP-2
  • No new enrollees except for Mission Essential Personnel
  • Teleworking parents must self-care
  • Fees waived for voluntary temporary withdrawals
  • Childcare limited critical to mission only with spouse unavailable (command letters required)
  • Reduced group sizes to promote social distancing
  • School Age Care Center will consolidate with Child Development Center
  • All children and accompanying parents will receive


Community Recreation:

  • The Ponta Creek Community Recreation Complex is closed until further notice (includes office, paintball, retail/ticket sales and rentals)
  • Outdoor greenspaces, including the golf course at no charge, will be available for individual use (playgrounds and campsites are closed) [no MWR gear available]
  • Riding stables and storage units will remain open for current occupants
  • The Auto Hobby Shop and Skeet Range are closed until further notice
  • This year's Spring Fling (11 April) has been cancelled



  • The Sonny Montgomery Fitness Center is closed until further notice
  • Outdoor track, trails and fields will be available for individual use (no MWR gear available)
  • The Red Cross Lifeguard Class is postponed until further notice
  • Video workouts showing exercises that can be performed at home will be posted to our Facebook page on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
  • The DoD has provided links to free resources and workouts to help maintain a level of fitness while preserving social distancing guidance, which can be found on the Fitness page on our website


Food & Beverage:

  • Rudders will be open from 1000-1300 & 1700-2000 on weekdays and 1700-2000 on weekends until Wednesday, 1 April (takeout orders only, and no alcohol sales)
  • Rudders will be closed until further notice starting at 1300 on Wednesday, 1 April
  • The Subway located inside the McCain Recreation Center is closed until further notice
  • No self-serve drinks or condiments



  • The Liberty Center is closed until further notice
  • The MWR shuttle service is unavailable until further notice



  • The Andrew Triplett Library is closed until further notice
  • Books, comics, magazines, audiobooks, music and online courses are available for free to Navy families, Sailors, retirees and civilians through the Navy MWR Digital Library (see the Library page on our website for details)
