COVID-19 UPDATES

The following changes have been implemented throughout the MWR effective immediately per region guidance:

MWR facilities have reopened. All facilities will require masks (ages 6 & up), social distancing, temperature checks and COVID questioning. Hand sanitizer/sinks will be available. Please understand that as we reopen in the current environment, operations may be fluid.

UPDATE (11/30/2020): The Liberty Center is closed until Wednesday, 9 December 2020. During Liberty's closure, the McCain Recreation Center will open its doors to A-School Students on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays for free bowling and putt-putt. Active Duty & Dependents will be welcome on Wednesdays, and normal operations will continue on the weekend.

Child & Youth (UPDATE: 08/27/2020):

  • The Child Development Center is currently open to care for the children of parents working in essential functions. Parents who are self-caring in their own homes will have fees automatically waived ?until further notice. If your circumstances have changed and childcare is now needed, or have additional questions about the waivers, please email us at nasmer.mwr@navy.mil, or call the CDC at (601) 679-2652.
  • CYP is in Level CYP-2
  • No new enrollees except for Mission Critical Personnel
  • Teleworking parents (whether full-time or intermittent) must self-care
  • Fees waived for voluntary temporary withdrawals
  • Childcare limited critical to mission only with spouse unavailable (command letters required)
  • Reduced group sizes to promote social distancing
  • School Age Care Center are consolidated with Child Development Center
  • All children and accompanying parents will receive health screening


Community Recreation (UPDATE: 09/25/2020):

  • Office temporarily located at the McCain Recreation Center
  • Currently limited to Active Duty/Dependents (unless specified below)
  • Capacity limited to 35 patrons
  • Masks (ages 6 & up), social distancing, temperature checks and COVID questioning required, hand sanitizer/sinks available
  • Office temporarily located in Library conference room
  • Limited rental equipment available (rods & reels, discs, bikes and boats)
    • Unavailable: camping/picnic items and bounce houses
  • Additional OPEN facilities:
    • Eagle Point Stables (unmanned facility)
    • POV/Lemon Lot & storage units (unmanned facilities)
    • Trap & Skeet Range (Open to all Authorized Patrons)
    • Greenspaces, to include camping (no gear available), picnic areas, disc golf and playgrounds
  • Paintball field remains closed
  • Check facility webpage for hours


Fitness Center (UPDATE: 09/25/2020):

  • Active Duty only (see facility webpage for schedule)
  • Capacity limited to 75 patrons
  • Masks, social distancing, temperature checks and COVID questioning required, hand sanitizer/sinks available
  • Social distance markings and directional signage throughout the facility
  • Towel service unavailable
  • Showers/lockers unavailable


Hobby Shop (UPDATE: 08/27/2020):

  • Currently limited to Active Duty/Dependents
  • Masks, social distancing, temperature checks and COVID questioning required, hand sanitizer/sinks available
  • By appointment only (72 hour notice [weekdays], 1 week [Saturday])
    • If no answer, email david.j.brown3@navy.mil
  • Ages 18 & up (ages 13-17 must be accompanied by parent/guardian)
  • Quiz required for auto bays
  • Safety overview/demonstration required for woodworking
  • Safety overview required for pottery
  • Proof of certification or formal job training required for welding


Liberty (UPDATE: 11/30/2020):

  • Masks (ages 6 & up), social distancing, temperature checks and COVID questioning required, hand sanitizer/sinks available
  • No physical browsing - by appointment only to pick-up books
  • Computers available for A-School Students
  • Check book availability online and call to schedule appointment
  • Books, comics, magazines, audiobooks, music and online courses are available for free to Navy families, Sailors, retirees and civilians through the Navy MWR Digital Library (see the Library page on our website for details)


McCain Recreation Center (UPDATE: 11/30/2020):

  • Bowling, putt-putt, arcade and movie room currently available

Rudders Pub & Grill (UPDATE: 09/25/2020):

  • Open to anyone with base access - indoor and outdoor dining available
  • Indoor dining limited to one person per table unless co-habitating
  • Masks (ages 6 & up), social distancing, temperature checks and COVID questioning required, hand sanitizer/sinks available
  • Social distance markings and directional signage throughout the facility
  • Advance orders through Dine on the Go highly encouraged!
  • No alcohol sales
