JOB SUMMARY

This position is located at MWR Liberty Center, NAS Meridian, MS. The purpose of the position is to operate vehicles such as vans to transport authorized personnel to various destinations on and off installation.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The incumbent will operate vehicles with an approximate vehicle weight of 10,000 pounds to transport personnel, supplies and/or equipment in support of the overall MWR mission. The incumbent will be held responsible for upholding local and state traffic regulations and US Navy rules and regulations while operating government vehicles over Federal, State, county and city streets/roads in all traffic conditions. Incumbent is responsible for operator maintenance on vehicles operated including but not limited to checking gas, monitoring fluid levels (washer fluid, oil, etc.), checking tire pressure, battery, lights, brakes and maintaining the cleanliness of assigned vehicle. Submit request for tune-ups and/or needed repairs. Reports any problems to supervisor. Maintains records and documentation pertaining to operation of the motor vehicle. Performs other related duties as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A valid state driver’s license is required.
  • Knowledge and skill to conduct preventive maintenance of vehicles.
  • Ability to operate a computer sufficient enough to complete trip tickets, preventative maintenance records and accident reports.
  • Must possess basic math and reading skills.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing in English.

 

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS

For most assignments, the supervisor gives general instructions related to the work to be done and is available for guidance in unusual situations. Recurring assignments are carried out independently without specific instructions.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Moderate effort is used in operating the controls of the vehicle. The employee will be subjected to standing, walking, turning, twisting, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, and climbing.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

This position is subject to the possibility of workdays on the weekends and holidays, as well as, rotating shifts, often consisting of other than normal duty hours. In order verify fitness for duty, a complete physical examination may be required.

SPOUSAL PREFERENCE
