Camping & Picnics

Picnic areas are available at the School Aged Care Center, Fire Station #2, Bernath Field, Lake Martha, Lake Tant, Lake Helen, Eagle Point stables, the Fitness Center Beach Volleyball Court and Swimming Pool, and at the Community Recreation Complex.

Grill areas are available at Lake Tant, Lake Helen, Eagle Point Stables, the Fitness Center and the Community Recreation Complex.

Camping is available at Lake Martha, adjacent to the Pavilion area.  Showers and restrooms are provided.

Eagle Point Stables

The stables include 45 acres of pasture, a lighted arena, a training pen, beautiful scenic trails, a barn, large stalls, hot walker, feeders and hay racks. Eagle Point is open for authorized patrons only. For more information, call (601) 679-2609.

Navy MWR ESPORTS is a Community Recreation initiative designed to provide entertainment and recreation opportunities through competitive sports. This multidimensional initiative will also increase programming opportunities at MWR Liberty Centers through technological improvements and provide top-quality esports competitions to the Navy community.

Hobby Shop

The Hobby Shop, located in Building 272 (directly behind the Library) and available by appointment only, is a newly improved workspace for authorized patrons to pursue their interests. The facility contains indoor and covered outdoor auto lifts (must be operated by MWR employees), a wide variety of tools, a wood shop with 15 primary stations and an assortment of hand tools (MWR training course required), three pottery tables and a kiln. The facility also has a welding shop, which is limited to authorized patrons ages 18+ who provide the manager with welding certification or proof of job-related technical training (please call manager at 601-679-3437 or email david.j.brown3@navy.mil with any questions).

All work at the Hobby Shop must be paid for in advance at the Community Recreation Complex. Cost is $5/hr for Active Duty/Dependents, $7/hr for all other authorized patrons and $2/hr for each minor dependent accompanying a parent (minimum age is 13, except for welding, which is 18+). 72 hours' notice is required for Monday-Friday (1600-1900), and one week's notice is required for Saturday (1000-1500). Hunting & Fishing

Fishing is available at Lake Martha, Lake Tant and Lake Helen. Hunting is available throughout the installation, and requires a state permit, base permit, state-approved safety course and installation hunter safety brief. Hunting and fishing licenses for the state of Mississippi and for NAS Meridian can be obtained through the Community Recreation Complex.

Lemon Lot

Sell privately owned automobiles, motorcycles, boats, RVs and other vehicle types! The Lemon Lot is $20 for Active Duty military personnel, Retirees, Reservists and their Dependents, and $25 for DoD Civilians.

McCain Recreation Center

The McCain Recreation Center offers a wide variety of social and recreational activities, including eight synthetic bowling lanes with automatic scoring systems, eighteen holes of indoor putt-putt golf, an arcade area, a Pro Shop, a Subway restaurant and a 36-seat movie theater with a collection of over 800 movies (scheduled movies are shown daily). Special bowling and putt-putt rates are available for birthday, command, holiday and organizational parties. Bowling leagues run throughout the year.

The Rec Center is a Wi-Fi facility.

POV Storage

Privately Owned Vehicle Storage is available behind the Bernath Field Parking Lot and is authorized for automobiles, RVs, boats, and trailers.

Shuttle Service

The MWR shuttle service is available seven days a week for travel around the base. Stops are made at the Fitness Center, Housing, Liberty Center, McCain Recreation Center and Community Recreation Complex/Rudders every fifteen minutes.

This service is available to ages 18+ and active duty military personnel.

Trap & Skeet

Located on Mud Road between Lake Martha and Eagle Point Stables.

Users must provide their own guns, ammo and clays.

Shotguns must be declared every time when entering the front gate, must be registered with security the first time a new one is brought and may not be taken to any other facility on the installation, even when secured in a vehicle.

The range cannot be used unless a RSO is present and the appropriate installation office notifies IAW NASMERINST.

The Liberty Center

The Liberty Center offers many activities for single (including geographically single) and unaccompanied Active Duty personnel both at the facility and through trips. Features of the facility include a TV/movie room with massage chairs, video game room (PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, etc.), recreational room (basketball hoop shoots, foosball, ping pong, air hockey and regulation tournament pool tables), music room, kitchen and study area.

The Liberty Center is a Wi-Fi facility.
